Calling on Dragons review
Sep. 3rd, 2008 08:55 amThe Enchanted Forest series continued in fine form, with Calling On Dragons the best yet. The title was a bit confusing, as nobody went to visit any dragons, but I suppose they did "call on" the dragons to help with the battle at the end, though that was rather incidental.
Anyway, the introduction of Morwen's nine cats as main characters was a genius idea, and they added a great deal to the humour of the story. The real star of the show, though, was Killer the rabbit, who was gradually transformed, bit by bit, into a six foot tall, bright blue, floating, incorporeal, winged donkey, who was always hungry. This last characteristic was his downfall as each part of the transformation was brought about by him eating something he shouldn't have. His interaction with the cats was especially funny, and the animals in combination completely eclipsed the human characters.
One more to go in the series - I'm saving it for a while as I don't want it to end!
