The Forbidden Kingdom on Friday night - Empire was correct in describing it as "supremely silly", and the modern day framing scenes were fairly awful, but the middle section had a lot to entertain in it, and the fights were certainly impressive.  I had real difficulty in understanding what several of the characters said (especially Jackie Chan, probably because he was supposed to be drunk most of the way through), and it annoyed me that, while they had to teach the boy how to do Kung Fu, nobody taught him how to ride - it's not something you can just jump on a horse and do, you know!  Overall, good fun.

Kung Fu Panda this morning - much more fun than The Forbidden Kingdom, and the action scenes were much more impressive.  It had great characters, some clever moments and was, in general, very entertaining.  I didn't recognise any of the voices, and was surprised by all the names that came up at the end - it was quite a starry cast.  I loved the way Master Shifu managed to train Po in the end, and the climactic battle was very well done.

However, in both films, the message seemed to be - learn how to beat people up and everyone will love you.  Hmmm...
