The Incredible Hulk review
Jun. 16th, 2008 03:11 pmEdward Norton - always extremely watchable, and the main reason I went to see the Hulk on Saturday. Unfortunately, he isn't given very much to do in this role, as any extreme emotion makes him transform, which leaves him playing only the mid-range. Still, he makes the best of a relatively sketchy role, and is still excellent.
I though the film was pretty good - I thought it had a lot of depth and developed all the relationships well, along with having some impressive set pieces. The Brazilian town where much of the first part of the movie takes place is visually amazing, and a brilliant place for an extended foot chase. It wasn't quite as violent as Ironman, but still had a couple of moments that really made me wince (though worryingly, the kids sitting behind us thought all the violence was very funny), and the range of expression of the CGI Hulk was excellent.
So, overall, a definite thumbs up - and the very end suggests another film in the pipeline that could be equally good.
