The Bridge review
May. 30th, 2008 09:09 pmI'm still re-reading things at the moment, and next on the list was The Bridge by Iain Banks. It was neither as mysterious nor as compelling as I remembered, but still a good read. A sort of combination of Kafka and Life on Mars, the sections on the bridge itself are by far the most interesting, though piecing together how various details from the protagonist's "real life" have been transformed into aspects of the dream world is cool, too. It all gets rather tedious once he managed to leave the bridge in the dream, and the ending seems rather anti-climactic, but it's very strange and intriguing overall, and very well put together.
