I'm not really sure if I liked The Good Fairies of New York by Martin Millar or not.

None of the characters used contractions, which made the dialogue stilted and childlike, and the tone was so light as to make the narrative practically non-existent. But the plot contained sex, swearing and colostomy bags, which made the whole thing rather unsettling, since the style and the content really didn't match.

The story was quite fun in places, quite annoying in places, and quite unpleasant in places. A lot of the actual plot happened "off screen", as it were, which was quite strange and made for a rather disconnected feel. But it had a lot of interesting characters and some clever moments.
