Yesterday was our 15th annual games convention - Annie-and-Dave Con - and I played an excellent game called Ex Libris.
Each player is trying to build a library to impress the Inspector in a fantasy village and be declared the Grand Librarian.
It's a combination of lots of things I love in games - the theme and art are very cute, the library cards have hilarious book titles on them, there's a worker placement aspect where you send your library workers out to various locations that give you particular abilities each turn, and you also have to build your library to adhere to as many of the point-scoring aspects as possible (alphabetical order, collecting or avoiding particular types of books, getting a range of different book, etc).
So, it was pretty perfectly designed to appeal to me - and I loved it!
I came second but was very happy with how my library turned out - and I would definitely like to play this again.
