Reacher TV show - Season 2
Feb. 14th, 2024 11:36 amI was apprehensive going into the second season of the Reacher TV show, since the first season got progressively more violent and less entertaining as it went along.
But I needn't have worried! Unexpectedly, the violence level in Season 2 stayed well within my limits and didn't ramp up towards the end much at all.
Additionally, the special investigators were in the house! Neagly has always been one of my favourite characters in the Reacher books, so it was great to see her getting a lot more screen time in this season - and the inclusion of the rest of the team (either in flashbacks or as part of the plot) was excellent.
It feels like Alan Ritchson bulked up even more for this season - and has gone a tad too far for my tastes - but he also spent a lot less time with his shirt off, so that was fine.
I still struggled with the character of Reacher himself for about half the episodes - too adorable, too socially awkward, too talkative, too funny - until I remembered I could let go of the image of Reacher in my head from Jeff Harding's much gruffer presentation in the audiobooks and let Ritchson be his own Reacher.
A lot of it was unexpectedly sweet and emotive (there were two Neagly moments that actually made me cry) and it was satisfyingly hilarious in places.
So, overall, I'm really glad I gave in to temptation and watched it! Roll on Season 3!
