alobearIn this instalment of The Innkeeper Chronicles by Ilona Andrews, the focus shifts from the Innkeeper to her sister, who was introduced in the last book. Even though it's been a while since I listened to that one, I remembered most of the plot, so spending the first hour of this audiobook on a summary of the previous book (admittedly from Maud's point of view rather than Dina's) was a bit tedious.
However, it did very effectively set the scene for following Maud to the homeworld of her new vampire paramour's family.
Cue inter-species politics, romantic complications, uncovering a plot by other vampire families, lots of snark and action and fighting (both verbal and physical), as Maud tries to navigate a very precarious situation, while protecting her young daughter, Helen.
Well-read, well-written, involving, fun, exciting - this series continues to be a great listen.
