I finally got around to listening to the last in the Paladin's Legacy series by Elizabeth Moon.
It was pretty grim at the start, as well as being a bit confusing, since it jumped around between quite a few characters (some of them new) for a while before settling down into the main plotline. The whole thing was a bit scattershot, since it needed to tie up all the loose ends from a very long series.
However, that said, I got into it quite quickly and was largely very satisfied with how everything ended up.
I'm so glad I rediscovered this series and saw it through to the end.
