alobearStormsong is the second in The Kingston Cycle by CL Polk, this time following Grace (the sister of the previous book's protagonist) as she navigates complicated court politics, multiple threats to the future of her homeland, and many obstacles placed in her path to personal happiness.
This is a really fun fantasy world, with tons of great characters, lots of great political intrigue, high stakes both personal and global, and an exciting, fast-paced plot.
I really enjoyed the switch of protagonist, combined with the continuing presence of many of the first book's characters and themes. It's an interesting way to approach a trilogy that follows the same storyline very closely but switches viewpoint character for each book.
Definitely a strong sequel and plenty of engaging set-up for the final instalment, which I will look forward to reading in due course.
