I was luckily prepared for Everything Is Beautiful by Eleanor Ray by the words on the back: "perfect for fans of Eleanor Oliphant". So, when the extent of the trauma and sadness of the situation became apparent, I wasn't as shocked or upset as I might have been.
That aside, I found the book well-written, with interesting, layered and engaging characters. I thought the presentation and handling of the protagonist's mental health issues was done very sensitively and in a compelling and realistic way. I particularly appreciated the fact that her eventual (potential) road to recovery was presented as very much a work in progress that would not likely be smooth or remotely easy.
Overall, a good book.
