Into the West

I really enjoyed getting back to the origins of Valdemar last year so I was delighted when Into the West by Mercedes Lackey came out on audiobook recently. I've been a fan of Valdemar for over 25 years, and this second volume about its founding did not disappoint. It touched upon several familiar aspects of the world (Tayledras, Vrondi, change circles, heartstones) and it was fun to discover more about them from the perspective of knowing later events. There was lots of excitement and some great character moments (I was glad Delia got to come into her own a bit more), the dolls had a great arc, and I'll be very interested to see where book three takes the story.
