Squire is a graphic novel by Sara Alfageeh and Nadia Shammas. It's about a young girl named Aiza, who wants to become a knight and have songs sung about her. However, once she joins squire training, she discovers things are not how they are presented in the recruitment posters.
I loved all the characters and the different arcs they go through, based on where they've come from and how they were raised. Aiza was a very strong and appealing protagonist, flawed but very engaging and relatable. I found her discoveries and the lessons she learned both entertaining and emotive. The world is well-layered and the art style very effective.
Very enjoyable.
I also finished listening to Poison River by Josh Reynolds, which is the first Daidoji Shin Mystery, set in the world of Legend of the Five Rings. So - a detective story and an RPG tie-in - and I really enjoyed it. So much so, that I picked it for family book club!
