An exciting conclusion to Anne McCaffrey's Catteni sequence (I know there's a fourth instalment but I've heard it's not very good and the third one finishes things off well enough for me). The climax seemed a little rushed, and the annoying thing from book two happened again in even more ridiculous circumstances, but those are small flaws in an otherwise excllent trilogy.

The scope of the story expands out even further in the third book, with new residents to the planet arriving from all sorts of different places, with varying needs and backgrounds. The plan to overthrow the evil aliens and free Earth is both daring and believable, and I like the way other Catteni characters are introduced.

My only problem is in the way the main character ends up having children despite not wanting them and not being able to procreate with her Catteni mate. Annoying contrivances by the author in order to provide a nuclear family for the protagonists where I don't think there was any need for one. But hey.
