My latest audiobook was Spy Spy Again by Mercedes Lackey, a continuation of her Herald Spy series, set in the universe of Valdemar. This time, it's Tory's turn for a coming-of-age adventure, as his siblings have done before him in the earlier books of the series. But he has a companion from the start - Kee, the younger prince of Valdemar, who boosts Tory's farsight ability when they are in physical contact. They get embroiled with the Sleepgivers, a tribe of assassins with connections to Tory's family, and the two young men go on a quest to rescue a young woman of the Sleepgivers, who has been kidnapped by Karsites. But the Sleepgiver captive doesn't necessarily need their help, as she has plenty of resources and abilities of her own to help her escape attempts.

It's a fun romp, with a good range of characters and the usual type of character arcs I've come to expect from Lackey over many years of being a fan. This series is by no means her best, but a good narrator generally makes the audiobooks entertaining enough to pass a few hours, and this instalment is no different. There's a kind of triple deus ex at the end, which resolves everything a bit neatly and easily, but I enjoyed listening and will keep doing so if more books come out.
