The Last Emperox

alobearI was delighted to discover that the last in the The Interdependency series by John Scalzi was available in audiobook format and that Wil Wheaton was narrating it, because I do love Wil telling me a story and I was keen to find out how the series would conclude.
It's quite a complex tale, told across three reasonably short books, and I was unusually glad for the recap sections that happened early on (even though I normally hate it when authors do this). They were quite cleverly woven into the narrative, so weren't too jarring, and it was useful to have a reminder of what had happened before.
Overall, the book was fun, and I liked the multi-strand narrative, following different characters in different places, with very different plans and motivations.
With only an hour to go, I couldn't imagine how everything was going to be wrapped up, but it turned out to be a very satisfying conclusion, even if it was quite sad in places and there was quite a lot of exposition at the end. I'm glad to have seen this series through - it was pretty good!
