Weird theatre trip

So, given that we can't go out and do cool stuff for a while, and given that about five planned theatre trips have been cancelled recently, we decided to do the virtual thing and organise an online theatre trip with some friends.
We watched a filmed version of Wild at the Hampstead Theatre, which was kinda weird. I mean, it was weird watching a play on the TV, but the play itself was also very weird. It was a thinly veiled dramatisation of Edward Snowden meeting with WikiLeaks operatives in Moscow three days after he leaked all the information.
But the first person he talked to was very strange, the second person he talked to claimed not to know anything about her, lots of things about the situation were definitely not true to life - and then it took a sharp turn into the surreal.
The ending had some great staging effects that had me open-mouthed, but it wasn't enough to make up for the interminable, batshit exchanges that made up most of the play, and I can't say I really took away any coherent message from the performance.
Still, it was nice to connect with friends and discuss a shared viewing experience, and I got to knit and drink tea, which I can't usually do at the theatre!
