Last night, Dave and I went to the theatre to see Hansard, a 90-minute, two-hander play about Section 28 of the 1988 Local Goverment Act. And it was excellent. The two characters were a Conservative MP and his more liberal wife, arguing about the Act and gradually revealing the more personal significance of it to their family history. The two actors were phenomenal, it was very funny in the first half, and very clever in the rapid back and forth. The argument did get a bit circular and repetitive towards the end, but the emotional impact of what was revealed was still effective. And, considering the whole play was just one long scene in the same room, between only two people, it was very compelling.
