This week, I had the same riding instructor - Dominic - so it's a good bet that he's regular for the adult intermediate lesson on Sunday mornings, which is excellent.

I rode Flash, a rangy chestnut, who didn't look like a riding school horse, and didn't feel like one, either. He's the first horse I've ridden there that wasn't hard work. He was forward-going, but not so much so that I had to hold him back. He did what he was supposed to, and did it well. This had two consequences - I had a chance to think about my position and my signals, and I also didn't fall down at the end of the lesson!

It was great fun and Dominic commented that my position was really good, but I didn't feel like I'd actually had any exercise.

Plus, Flash made everything easy, so he made me look really good. At one point, Dominic pulled me out of the ride and made everyone watch me canter as a demonstration of how to do it properly! So, I'm now officially teacher's pet, and everyone else probably hates me!

We did figures of eight and decreasing circles in sitting trot, then took turns trotting past the ride and then cantering to the back. Flash has the nicest canter of any of the horses I've ridden at Trent Park. I would say he's my favourite horse there, but he really didn't give me any kind of workout, so I don't think I'll be requesting him again.

They ought to put me on Madison next week - that'll deflate me ego back to normal again!
