I've been re-reading and continuing on with the Fables comics for some months, and I finally reached the end of the entire series this week.  Overall, I love the premise and most of the characters.  Some of the arc plots are stronger than others, and it's a bit brutal in places, but it's generally very entertaining and of a consistently high quality.  I'm apparently very difficult to please, though, since I was a bit disappointed by the very end.  It was building up to something quite epic, but in a way I wasn't keen on, since it didn't seem to make much sense, and it suggested quite a few deaths might occur.  So, when the climax was circumvented and the bad things I was expecting didn't happen, I should have been really pleased, right?  Well, no, as it felt like a bit of a cop-out and rather an abrupt and unsatisfying conclusion.  As I said, difficult to please.  Still, I would definitely recommend the comics, as they're generally really good.

On Wednesday, Dave and I went to the current show at the Theatre Royal Haymarket - Alan Ayckbourn's How The Other Half Loves.  It was very cleverly staged with front rooms of two houses overlapping, so that the characters inhabited the same physical space, but were actually in completely different buildings.  It's hard to describe, but it was very effective.  I felt a few aspects of the play fell a bit flat, but it was mostly very clever, very funny, and very entertaining.  The acting was of a high quality across the board, and the whole thing was very well put together.
