I first saw Avenue Q in the West End on 22 January 2007, and loved it.

So, when I was running past the local theatre in Enfield a few weeks ago and saw a poster for a production of it throughout December, I though - why not?

Simon H and nezumi_sama took the risk with me, and it really paid off, as the production was excellent.

I felt like the guy playing Brian wasn't putting much effort in, for some reason, but everyone else was great - particularly the woman who played Kate Monster and Lucy the Slut.  The production values were high, the singing was really good - and the show itself, of course, was awesome.  In fact, it was even better than I remembered.

The theatre, though small, was also very comfortable and well laid out for giving a good view.

Some Enfield residents obviously didn't know what they were letting themselves in for, though.  A couple of people left during "The Internet is for Porn" and a family with a pre-teen child made a swift exit during the puppet sex scene, which was amusing.  (I though, when I booked the tickets, that it was advertised as over 16s only, by hey...)  Everyone else seemed to appreciate it, though, and the cast got resounding (and well-deserved) applause at the end.

I shall have to keep an eye out to see what else is on at that theatre, as this amateur dramatics production certainly gave us value for money!
