So, that was a thing...
Nov. 26th, 2014 07:33 pmDracula - a sort-of ballet at the Finchley Arts Depot last night - um... I would probably summarise it as "too much atmosphere, not nearly enough dancing". There was a lot of writhing, and a lot of screaming, and an unexpectedly small amount of blood, and some good bits, and some not so good bits. The guy playing Dracula was really good, and had the best dance scenes - very fluid movement and pretty creepy. But he also had the weirdest bit (random Charlston, anyone?). It dragged in places, but was staged really well, and the sets were beautiful. So, a mixed review, I guess.
I also went to see The Imitation Game a while ago, but can't really think of much to say about it. It was very good, but desperately sad. It made me think of the world as a pretty bad place, but also demonstrated tremendous achievement against adversity, so yeah - good film, worth seeing, but more emotional that I had expected.
