Jack Reacher book 14 and still solidly entertaining. It's certainly not my favourite (too many likeable characters die) but it has a lot going for it. It's set in South Dakota in the winter, so the weather plays a big part, and that aspect was well done and made for some interesting difficulties Reacher doesn't normally face. And then there's "the voice in Virginia", a woman commanding Reacher's old MP unit, who provides information and mild flirtation over the phone - and the possibility of a great partnership for later books. I also proved myself to be cleverer than Reacher, which is quite satisfying - at one point, he says of the main mystery, "I should have figured it out 31 hours ago, when...", which is exactly the point at which I figured it out! The titular countdown was quite cool, too - adding quite a bit of suspense to proceedings without giving away what it was actually counting down to.
