Long haul flights are good for one thing, at least - watching films I originally planned to see in the cinema but somehow never got round to.  Some spoilers ahead...

Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters:
Subtle, it ain't - but hugely entertaining?  Hell, yeah!  With eye candy up the wazoo!  Jeremy Renner running around in a leather coat, getting beaten up a lot is pretty high on my list of good points in a movie - and I wouldn't kick Gemma Arterton out of bed, either!

A couple of minor complaints - some of the wire work was a bit shoddy and so spoiled the fight choreography in places, and I was rather disappointed by the implication in the film that diabetes is caused by eating too much sugar.  There was wholesale slaughter throughout, and a less than sophisticated message - people who share certain characteristics (eg witches) are not necessarily all the same (eg evil).

But yay for the use of the best way out of a hostage situation - shoot the hostage!

And may I just state for the record - mmmm, Jeremy Renner...

Oz: The Great and Powerful:
I find it difficult to pinpoint in words what I felt was lacking in this film - I think it was nuance.  There just didn't seem to be any layers to it - everything just was the way it was.  For some reason, I was expecting it to do something interesting with the Oz origin story, but it didn't.  Selfish wizard found goodness in his heart.  Blonde witch was good, brunette witches were evil.  Dwarves were comic and sang songs.  One of the main characters didn't even get a name, which really bothered me throughout.  People banded together and triumphed over evil by believing in themselves.

It was all very primary school, and rather disappointing.  Plus, it didn't have Jeremy Renner in it.

Jack Reacher:
This was also highly entertaining, partly due to a very sharp and unexpectedly funny script, and partly due to its total absurdity, which made it funny even when it wasn't supposed to be.  It was a bit brutal in places, but mostly just good, solid action-filled fun.

I have to say, though, that Tom Cruise really ought to stop taking his shirt off in films.  He can certainly still cut it as an action hero, but only if he keeps his clothes on...  He absolutely doesn't look his age but - let's face it - he's not Jeremy Renner...  :o)
