2012 Review Stats

Combined review stats for the whole of 2012 below.  This may be my last post on Live Journal, since it seems to have deteriorated rather rapidly in terms of accessibility and functionality.  If anyone has any recommendations of decent blogging sites I could try instead, please do let me know!

Film & TV:

Positive – 30 (64%)

Negative – 17 (36%)

Books:

Positive – 21 (50%)

Negative – 21 (50%)

Live Entertainment:

Positive – 7 (78%)

Negative – 2 (22%)

Audiobooks:

Positive – 27 (84%)

Negative – 5 (16%)

Games:

Positive – 9 (82%)

Negative – 2 (18%)

Total Reviews for 2012:

Positive – 94 (67%)

Negative – 47 (33%)

Not a great year for books – I read less than one per week, and only really liked 50% of them!  All the other categories are still mostly positive, though, which is good.

42 books in a year is still pretty respectable. It's way more than I managed to read :)

Lots of people are disillusioned with LJ right now, it seems. A combination of unpopular changes, actual or perceived failure to listen to what their uses actually want (both of which are their fault, of course) and malicious denial of service attacks (which aren't). It's a shame. I still rather love LJ, though it's mostly for the friends I have here. If they leave there's a lot less reason to stay!
You might find DreamWidth ( https://www.dreamwidth.org/ ) to your liking. It was started by ex-LJ developers from a cut of the LJ code a few years back, so it looks and feels similar but without LJ's problems. They're also a lot more sensitive in their changes (they actually seem to listen to their users), and they don't have the same problem with malicious attacks. No adverts for free accounts either. And you can import your entire journal from LJ to there (including comments), so if you want to keep all your old stuff you won't have lose a thing :))
I'm prunesquallormd over there too (I cross-post to LJ from there) (etcetera-cat's over there too :)). I like it a lot. The only reason I use it less than LJ (except for posting) is that I know a lot less people over there). If you like it and make an account, add me :)
