Imhotep: The Duel
Aug. 22nd, 2021 10:23 amI played an interesting two-player game - Imhotep: The Duel - while on holiday this weekend.
It's basically noughts and crosses but with a lot of added aspects. There are cargo ships moored off the edges of the grid board and the placement of your meeples on the grid determines which boats you can unload and which tokens you receive from them.
There are several different types of tokens, each of which score points in different ways. So, you need to place your meeples in such a way as to target the tokens you want to obtain. But your opponent's placement and actions impacts on what you actually receive when one of the boats is unloaded.
It was really interesting and lot of fun. I ended up winning by one point, as it's a pretty well balanced game, and I would definitely play again. There are more complicated scoring mechanisms for each type of tile, which you can introduce to create an advanced version of the game, so that adds to the replayability.
