The Lovely Bones review
Feb. 21st, 2010 05:56 pmA change of pace for Peter Jackson - though still effects heavy, much more of a personal pieces than his last few films. The Lovely Bones was a little slow in places, and the focus on Susie created somewhat of a barrier to the emotions of the people she left behind. But the beauty of the in-between sequences was an effective contrast to the incredibly creepy Mr Harvey and the obsessive search for evidence by Susie's father and sister.
Saoirse Ronan (apparently pronounced Seer-shuh - who knew?) made for a compelling protagonist - she has amazing eyes and a lot of talent for emotive acting, paticularly since most of her scenes were solo. She really reminded me of Lindsay all the way through, which was a little strange, but not necessarily a bad thing! :o)
