A change of pace for Peter Jackson - though still effects heavy, much more of a personal pieces than his last few films.  The Lovely Bones was a little slow in places, and the focus on Susie created somewhat of a barrier to the emotions of the people she left behind.  But the beauty of the in-between sequences was an effective contrast to the incredibly creepy Mr Harvey and the obsessive search for evidence by Susie's father and sister.

Saoirse Ronan (apparently pronounced Seer-shuh - who knew?) made for a compelling protagonist - she has amazing eyes and a lot of talent for emotive acting, paticularly since most of her scenes were solo.  She really reminded me of Lindsay all the way through, which was a little strange, but not necessarily a bad thing!  :o)

It's more than a little strange that a 16 year-old with amazing eyes kept reminding you of me, but I'm certainly not complaining ;-)

I haven't seen the film, but I did read the book last year. Perhaps it was a combination of her clothes (look rather like things I might wear) and having a sister called Lindsey that subliminally influenced you?

Now I'm tempted to go and watch it myself!

:-P
I think I see what you mean though...
(I was telling Ryan about it and how no-one had ever likened me to an actress before, and he replied, very matter-of-factly, that he thinks I sometimes look like Scarlett Johansson! I'm sure I went pink with pleasure :-) He's clearly blind, but I'll take the comparison nonetheless.
