Lindsay pointed me towards a BBC drama of a couple of years ago, and Tesco DVD Rental provided me with the first three episodes.

This show is weird and seedy, and the main character is extremely unpleasant.

And then there's David Tennant. His character drops litter (a real pet hate of mine), he's wilfully deceiving someone in the hopes of wooing her (never a good plan) and I can't get used to the broad Scottis accent, but he's by far the best of a bad bunch, and he's David Tennant. I've seen him be strange and compelling in Casanova, I've seen him be excitable and compelling in Doctor Who, and now I've seen him dressed in a tux, singing his little heart out to Sarah Parish.

I am undone.

On top of that, the story is intriguing, the characters are well drawn, the scripting is tight, and the singing is very much the right kind of bizarre.

Roll on disc two!

One of Andy's Who mates found this somewhere I thought you might appreciate it.

Very cool!

It's weird, though - I don't actually find David Tennant attractive, I just seem to be inexplicably obsessed with him...

I do despite him being not technically my type apart from being skinny. I should in text book terms be obsessed with Josh Holloway (aka. Sawyer)instead - fair hair - check, vivid, sparkling blue eyes (well ok blue/green but even so) - check, sexy designer stubble - check, deep south accent - not check but definately a bonus, bit of a bad boy - check. In fact most of the eye candy on offer in "Lost" consists of guys who are far more conventional attrative than DT. It's a bit of mystery to me why I've never really fancied Brad Pitt who is also blond, blue-eyed and slightly rugged looking.

I think you hit the nail on the head with compelling - and I remember going mildly embrassingly squee to a work collegue about 'expressive face'. I think he just has this undefinably quirky charisma that makes him fascinating (and sometimes it works against him too my mum finds him really irritating as both Who and Casanova), a bit like that bloke off Scrubs/Garden State whose surname I can never spell.
