Kung Fu Panda 2
Jun. 12th, 2011 10:04 amAfter a rather long drought in terms of really good movies (though I checked back through my LJ the other day and, prior to X-Men First Class, there have actually been two others so far this year) - two come along in the same week!
What can I say about Kung Fu Panda 2? It made me laugh, it made me cry, it reaffirmed my relationship with my mother (there was one particular moment between Po and his dad which made us simultaneously turn to each other and grin like lunatics) - but most of all, it was really, really pretty. The animation was fantastic, and the direction was excellent. I particularly liked the change in animation styles for the flashback scenes - very effective.
The voice cast was brilliant, the characterisation had range and depth, the plot was both exciting and emotive - why aren't all films like this??
A sequel that was leagues better than the original, and not even the screaming child could ruin it for me - highly recommended.
