Fables - 6-69
Jun. 11th, 2011 08:46 amIn my experience, when comics are really good, they are better than any other form of entertainment.
And Fables is awesome. (Am I using that word too much?)
Many thanks to Corone for lending me his extensive collection of individual issues after my lovely minion introduced me to the series with the first collection. I devoured them all inside a week and am no clamouring for more.
Like many series in the graphic medium, Fables is fairly bloody, but the nature of comics generally mitigates my issues with that, and such was the case here. It's also very clever, very funny, consistently exciting, and continually surprising. The range of characters is vast and engaging, and the over-arching premise works extremely well.
I'm well and truly back in comics mode now, and keen for more, so recommendations (and especially offers of lending, as comic series are so expensive to get hold of) welcome!
