Fables: Legends in Exile review
May. 5th, 2011 09:47 amHaving heard good things about Bill Willingham's Fables series from a friend, I promptly borrowed the first edition and devoured it in about an hour.
It's tremendous fun, telling the story of fairy tale characters exiled to the "real world" by an invasion of their homelands by a mysterious Adversary. The murder mystery is not very complicated, but Bigby Wolf's investigation of it is highly entertaining (it was only towards the end that I finally realised where his first name derived from - genius!) and the presentation of the various mythical characters and their attempts to blend in with modern New York society are both clever and very amusing.
I shall definitely look forward to reading the rest of these, as soon as my friend acquires them!
