67 books is a very poor total, but it seems my resolution to be more adventurous when going to the cinema has worked out pretty well. My plan for 2011 is to try and write longer and more interesting reviews, since I think they've been a bit perfunctory of late.

As for a general review of the year, 2010 has very much been the year of board games for me.  We held the first annual Annie-and-Dave Con in June, which was tremendous fun, as were both ManorCon and MidCon.  We've spent a great deal more time playing board games at home (with and without guests), as well as introducing my parents to new board games very successfully during trips to Rustington.

The games that stand out by dint of being added to our owned collection are:
Dominion, of course - we have not only become rather obsessed with this ourselves, but have also introduced four other couples to the game, two of whom have subsequently bought their own sets
Carcassonne - a game I had heard about a lot but never played before this year (a lot of my gamer friends aren't that keen on it but I enjoy it tremendously every now and then and have several friends/relatives who are always happy to play)
Citadels - a Christmas present which has been played at least seven times in the last six days (I remember playing it years ago and am very glad to have been reintroduced to it)
Ticket to Ride - another game that proved popular over Christmas and has the benefit of being very different when played with different numbers of people
Funny Friends - an unexpected find (thanks, coldjwplay!) that resulted in two hilarious evenings during the Christmas family gathering (people were a bit uncertain about it at first, but my conviction that parents, siblings and partners would all enjoy it proved correct)
Lost Cities - not the best game in the world, but a fun short two-player game that's a good time filler
Loot - a well-selected present that has seen a moderate amount of use and again benefits from very different tactics with different numbers of players

We've also rediscovered Escape From Atlantis (which has been in the family since I was very small) and had a couple of very enjoyable games of that, not to mention all the other games I was introduced to and really enjoyed at ManorCon (at MidCon, I actually *only* played Dominion).

The best thing about all this game-playing is that it has resulted in a lot more time spent enjoying the company of family and friends, particularly coldjwplay and Simon H - thanks for making the second half of the year so much fun, guys!

On a related note, there was also, of course, the infamous Live Game.  I got unnecessarily stressed about it at the time, but everyone involved seemed to enjoy themselves, and it was mostly successful.  The whole thing is long enough ago now that it has become suffused with a nostalgic haze that almost makes me think I'd like to write and run another one.  Something to think about for 2011 perhaps...!

Looking forward to 2011, January is looking pretty awesome already, with tons of exciting things booked, and lots more throughout the rest of the year.  I won't go into details here, though - you'll have to wait for the reviews!

Now, if only I could finish my damn OU assignment (due 6th January), I might be able to start enjoying the new year...
