MI:3 Review

The best things about Mission Impossible 3 were the X-Men 3 and Pirates of the Caribbean 2 trailers that were on before it (Keira Knightley in pirate gear - be still my heart...). It's never a good sign when I start writing the review in my head before a film has even finished.
Having said that, there were a couple of nice character moments, a couple of quite funny lines, a couple of cute guys and a couple of times I couldn't help but think, "Wow - that's pretty cool!"
Simon Pegg was very silly, and it's always a pleasure to see Jonathan Rhys Meyers, even if he didn't have much to do. Laurence Fishburne has got old and fat, which is a shame, but then, it happens to us all. Philip Seymour Hoffman was impressively evil, right up until the point when he was idiotically stupid. It must be really annoying as an actor to read an evil mastermind part - "ooh, cool, I get to be all evil and clever and outsmart the hero all the way through and then I turn into a complete moron at the last moment and die - bugger!"
Overall, what can I say? It's fun to see Tom Cruise in pain and J J Abrams certainly knows how to direct an action sequence. Not great, but not bad.
