I realised when I was doing my third quarter stats that I hadn't reviewed one of the audio books I listened to a while ago.

Sheepfarmer's Daughter by Elizabeth Moon is the story of Paksenarrion Dothirsdottir, a country girl who flees an arranged marriage to become a mercenary fighter.  It's a good, solid tale, with lots of great characters and a fair amount of action.  I read the whole series some years ago, but didn't keep them, and decided to get the audio books when I found out a spin off series has recently been published.  The audio version was good fun to listen to, with only one drawback.  The protagonist's name is shortened to Paks in the book, but the way the narrator said it made it sound like "pox", which isn't a very attractive name for a heroine!  This did put me off rather, since it's used a lot and kept pulling me out of the narrative.

On Friday, I accompanied a very excited Dave to see Back To The Future in the cinema.  It's one of his favourite films, while I had only seen it once and didn't remember liking it all that much, so I was a bit worried that I'd ruin it for him by not enjoying it.  Predictably, we met somewhere in the middle - it wasn't as good as he remembered, or as bad as I remembered.  It's very silly, with a lot of very over-the-top acting and a few cringe-worthy moments, but it's also pretty funny, a lot of fun, and obviously made with a great deal of enthusiasm.  All in all, an entertaining couple of hours.
