Lots of fun to be had with The Sorcerer's Apprentice, which just goes to show that films can be PG and still really good.  I loved all the little details of what the various sorcerers did with their magic, and the link to science kind of made sense, whilst also allowing the science nerd hero to be both cool and clever.  The humour was mostly enjoyable (though more along the lines of the occasional snort than out-and-out guffaws), the characters were all likeable, and the whole thing rattled along at and entertaining clip.  Definitely recommended if you're looking for some light-hearted fun without the risk of unexpected dismemberment.

Wow, we agree on a movie! :-)

In a rather shallow way I did love that they didn't stint on the special effects. Sometimes you get one decent magic scene that blows the budget and nothing else, but there was lots of cool magic in this one.

We don't *always* disagree! :-p

And you have to admit that there was very little that could be construed as objectionable in this film.

Apart from Nic Cage's acting, if you're Empire...

Me, I thought he was exactly the right level of unhinged for this part ;)
