Once review
Jun. 7th, 2010 09:45 pmI re-instated my LoveFilm DVD rental account this month and, having trawled through my collection of Empire magazines (which date back to 1990), I now have 95 titles on my viewing list.
The first one they sent me was Once, the story of a busker and a Big Issue seller, who meet and become friends in Dublin, connecting over their shared passion for music and songwriting. It's a sweet film, at once whimsical and realistic. It's not too sugar-coated, nor depressing, even though real life intrudes on their burgeoning romance.
It's certainly not going to set the world on fire, as very little happens overall, but it was a pleasant re-introduction to postal DVDs.
