Engineer of Chelm review
Jun. 3rd, 2010 02:49 pmLast night, we went to a very interesting production at the Jewish Museum in Camden.
It was titled "The Engineer of Chelm" and claimed to be a steampunk eco-fantasy, amalgamating updated versions of the legend of Chelm and the Book of Jonah from the Bible.
There were only three members of the cast and they did a fantastic job of arranging all the sets with only a very few props and pieces of furniture. The play only lasted an hour, but it was dialogue-heavy and all three actors were word perfect and gave very convincing performances.
The story was a lot of fun, telling of the city of Chelm, which was being threatened by pollution, and the struggle of the engineer to take up his responsibilities to save the city.
Hugely enjoyable, extremely well done, and very interesting.
