The Westing Game review
Feb. 20th, 2010 05:33 pmI can't remember where I heard about The Westing Game by Ellen Raskin, but I evidently put it on my Amazon wishlist at some point and then added it to an order last week.
It's a children's book about a multi-millionaire who stages an elaborate game to identify which of his heirs is most worthy to inherit his fortune. There's a whole range of interesting characters, and the gradual revealing of their backgrounds, motivations and opinions is very well done. I worked out bits and pieces of the msytery as it went along, but certainly not everything, and the plot kept me interested to the end.
The book is very light and quite silly in places, but that's not necessarily a bad thing, and it was an entertaining read overall.
