The Railway Viaduct review
Aug. 8th, 2009 08:51 amMy Inspector Colbeck reviews are going to get very reptitive, since the books are pretty much the same from one to the next. Edward Marston has a winning formula and no reason to deviate from it. This was another very enjoyable adventure in Victorian England, with a side trip to France this time to add some extra excitement. One thing that did stand out was the the use of a great deal of swearing, which was very appropriate for the group of characters who did it (Irish railway navvies), but detracted somewhat from the otherwise civilised tone of the book. I also really wish Colbeck would stop dilly-dallying around and make an honest woman out of Madeleine!
Otherwise, though, a very good way to take up two days' reading time.
