A Certain Slant Of Light review
Apr. 20th, 2009 10:22 pmOne of the best books I've read so far this year came from an unexpected source - my line manager, with whom I didn't think I had anything in common, least of all taste in reading material. However, A Certain Slant Of Light by Laura Whitcomb is a gorgeous read - beautifully descriptive, utterly compelling, and hugely satisfying in premise, characters, and conclusion. It's about words, and love, and redemption - using the physical and emotional longings of two ghosts to bring together the shattered remnants of two living families, at the same time glorying in the power of literature and art, and celebrating the ties that bind us together.
I read it in 24 hours and it made me lose track of which station the train was coming into during both of today's journeys.
