Powers 3 & 4 - The third instalment of the Powers comic book series continued the trend of diminishing returns with a reasonably entertaining main arc, followed by two one-off stories that just confused me because I was trying to make them fit in with what had happened beforehand!  That's probably my fault, though, and the whole thing was still very enjoyable.  Volume 4 was pretty good, though much ickier than previous volumes, and really sad.  It ended in a really interesting place, though, so I'll definitely be getting more, as I'm intrigued to see where they take it next.

Fortune and Fate by Sharon Shinn is the fifth book in the Twelve Houses series - it seemed rather more predictable and cliched than the others, but it was still good - I love the characters in this series, so it was great to get to spend more time with them, and overall the book was good fun.

Watchmen (The Movie) - those on the trip who had read the novel agreed that it was an excellent adaptation in terms of transference from comic to screen.  Those who had not read the novel were unimpressed overall.  I have to admit that my main enjoyment of the film was in recognising all the characters and scenes from the book, and it was incredibly faithful, but somehow it just didn't really hang together effectively, so I don't think it was all that good as a film in and of itself.  I did largely enjoy it, though I was glad I knew when all the icky bits were because I don't think I would have wanted to see some of the more unpleasant scenes.

I'm beginning to regret telling you about Powers. I can't advise you about what happens after number four, as that is the last one I have read, although I must admit to being interested in what happens myself.

By the way, excellent leathery, leathery whip, and good incorporation of exposition through the medium of song (meaning, revealing exactly what it was Trevor had wrapped round his hat, and explaining what was going on when he used it).
