Horse round-up

Joining in with the others, I've put together the list of horses I've ridden at Trent Park. I'm not listing all the dates because I've had to cobble it together from personal journal entries as well as live journal entries, and there are are some missing, as well as some errors.

Anyway, I started riding again after a ten year break on 16th April 2006, and the first horse I rode at Trent Park was Madison. After that, I had fortnightly lessons until mid-June when my car was broken into and I couldn't drive to the stables. I didn't pick up the riding again until 1st October 2006, which is when I started going on Sunday mornings and recording it in my live journal.

Twice:
Toby
Molly
Abbey

Three times:
Conan

Four times:
Madison

Six times:
Flossie

Of those, it's only Madison I've real trouble with, and I don't dislike her, she's just difficult for me.

Flossie is definitely my favourite, but I'd love to ride Cassie and Flash again, because I remember them both being great fun.

I'd really like to know who decides which horse to put people on, and what they base the decision on. I know that weight and experience have a lot to do with it, but after that it seems fairly arbitrary - you'll be on the same horse four times in a row and then you'll get all different ones for two months. It's weird.

It would be really interesting to find out. I've thought of asking before, but the woman at the desk is always so busy when we arrive, and I didn't want to risk looking as though I was complaining in any way as I know she doesn't react well to people saying they don't want to ride particular horses!

It's just that there are so many horses there, and I'm sure there are several of an appropriate size for me that I've not tried yet!
