The Absolute Book

Someone passed The Absolute Book by Elizabeth Knox at a recent reading retreat, recommending it as something they thought I would enjoy. And both cover and blurb were very appealing... But the first 50 pages failed to grab me. Events kept skipping along a timeline with little context or explanation and it all felt very nebulous, to the extent that I couldn't seem to get a hold of the story. I was definitely struggling after a few days so I decided to give it up.
