The Little Stranger
I've generally really liked Sarah Waters books in the past, and The Little Stranger is really well-written, involving, engaging, intriguing, compelling - all the good things!
But it's also really, really scary! Or at least, it was to me, since I'm a total wuss...
The (is-it-or-isn't-it) supernatural aspects were perfectly designed to really freak me out (sounds and things moving in old houses - aaaah!) and unfortunately I'm not the kind of person who enjoys being frightened.
All the rest of it was great - Dr Faraday is an excellent narrator, flawed but sympathetic, and the other characters are interesting and varied.
So, excellent book! But not for me...
