Back to the Future - The Musical
Nov. 4th, 2021 09:54 amFor our second West End theatre trip of the week (we went to Come From Away for about the seventh time on Tuesday), Dave and I went to the Back to the Future Musical last night.
And it was largely fun. The main actor did a very good Michael J Fox impression, some of the dancing was pretty good, and the sets and technology were excellent. But the songs weren't particularly impressive and it's not the kind of show I'd be desperate to see again (cf Come From Away above).
Apart from the very cool effects when Marty was driving the car, my favourite bit was probably Doc Brown's first song, during which several women with Farrah Fawcett hair, silver jumpsuits and go-go boots appeared out of nowhere to provide backing vocals and dance moves. Partway through the song, Marty asked Doc Brown who they were and he said, "I don't know! They just turn up whenever I start singing!"
I do love a bit of meta...
So, overall, it was a reasonable night's entertainment, but not something I'd rave about.
