Yesterday, we went to see the stage musical version of The Lion King.
Now, I know I've seen it before, over 15 years ago, but I have know idea exactly when, why or with whom.
I enjoyed it this time around, though I do feel the creativity of the costumes and staging is the main draw, with the story actually being a bit slow. Still, Scar was excellent throughout, the rest of the performances were generally good, and I liked the addition of all the African music and singing.
And the costumes and staging are amazing! All the animals are evoked so brilliantly and the mechanical aspects of the set are very clever and effective.
So, overall, it's a good show with some good moments, but the biggest credit must go to the costume designer.
