About twelve years ago, I was walking round Manchester city centre with my mum, when I spotted a tiny teddy bear lying in the road. He was completely flattened and had a tyre track across his nose. Needless to say, I took him home, gave him a wash, named him Hornby (10 points to anyone who can work out why!), and he is still in my stuffed toy collection.

Two years ago, I got a job in London, which turned out to be awful and made my physically ill. At the office, there was a small, incredibly dirty, stuffed turtle jammed between the struts of a desk lamp. When I left the company, I took him with me, gave him a wash, named him Wibble (because that's pretty much all I could say after five months in that job), and he is still part of my stuffed toy collection. He's actually a very important part of my collection, because he reminds me that anything that doesn't kill you makes you stronger - we both managed to escape that awful place, and we're now both a lot happier.

Yesterday, Dave presented me with a small, very dirty Bagpuss he had found abandoned in one of the aisles at Budgens. He's already got a name, but I'm about to give him a wash and add him to my stuffed toy collection!
