I have to admit, I'm not really sure what to say about this film, because it's all a bit of a blur. I remember laughing a lot, and I remember it was pretty exciting and visually spectacular. There was a lot of joy to be had in bringing various diverse groups of characters from different films together - as a fanfiction writer, this was glorious for me. But that's about it. The ending felt very temporary, as it seems fairly certain a lot of it is going to be fixed in the next one. So, while it was generally an enjoyable cinema experience (and it certainly didn't feel like over two and a half hours), it all seemed a bit disposable maybe...

It also felt like it was taking place in its own bubble, as the consequences of the end of Civil War weren't even touched upon, and it's clear that the events are divorced from the Spiderman: Homecoming timeline, as there is no reference to what happened at the end of that, either. If there is going to be another Black Panther film, it will have to be disconnected from this, as will Guardians of the Galaxy 3. I've never preteneded to understand how the Marvel timeline works, though, so I guess it all makes sense in some spreadsheet or other on someone's laptop!

Still, Thanos proved a better bad guy than I had expected. He had gravitas, his agenda was both insane and sort of understandable, and he certainly posed a credible threat. And Tom Holland's Spiderman remains both adorable and hilarious. So, overall, a positive review, though I'm a bit apprehensive about where it's all going next.
