alobearI was quite excited about going to see this film, especially after Empire gave it five stars.
And, for about the first 80%, it definitely lived up to the hype - the big set piece battle in the middle was particularly brilliant. It managed to fit in so many characters, and give all of them something to do, and some development.
The Vision was adorable, Spiderman was hilarious, Black Panther was complex and interesting, and all the old favourites were present and correct.
The film had depth and emotion, but was also really funny in places. I wasn't keen on the action direction - too much of the fuzzy close-up, nausea-inducing shaky-cam approach for me - but bits of it were also very good.
I found the climax quite disappointing, though - various aspects made no sense at all, and the final battle was just too brutal and no fun at all.
Still, overall, it was a great film, I really enjoy spending time in this universe, and I look forward to more to come!
